Sprint Instinct, the movie: we laughed, we cried; we'd like to win 20 bucks too

Love it, hate it, be agnostic about the Samsung Instinct, but you have to at least smile when you check out Sprint's online marketing campaign for the uberphone of the moment.

Sprint's Instinct Web site takes on a movie theme -- "Now Showing: No guns, no romance, no plot, the greatest product placement movie of all time is just phone."

The highlight of the Instinct site are "movie" clips of the Instinct in action, using various genres (trailer, horror, spy, chase, cops) to show off the phone's capabilities.

But Sprint has incorporated what could become a cool guerilla marketing campaign by offering Instinct users $20 to incorporate the Instinct into a home video posted on YouTube.

"Hollywood-style product placement for the small screen," the Web site declares. "Makes some money. Make history. Make a home movie with a phone in it."

The contest, which starts June 30, has a grand prize of $10,000, according the Sprint site.
