Sprint will kick off its $100 million marketing campaign for the Sprint Instinct Thursday with a series of videos comparing the Samsung-manufactured Instinct to the Apple-manufactured iPhone.
This video, the first of five to be released by Sprint, compares navigation features of the two phones.
The video shows the Instinct pulling up better maps more quickly.
Other videos will compare Instinct-iPhone Internet speeds, shooting videos with the two phones, watching live TV and downloading music.
Sprint said it will begin putting the five promotional spots on video sharing sites Thursday as it starts getting the word out on the iPhone challenger.
The Instinct will be on store shelves next month, Sprint said. The company hasn't released the price yet, but expect it to be available for under $200 with discounts.
Sprint has set up a Web site called NowisGood for the new phone.
Still to come? Rumor has it that Apple will launch a next generation iPhone in June. That phone will work on AT&T's fast, but still somewhat limited, 3G network.
And the winner is....?

I stumbled across this trying to find a way to apply a custom ring-tone to the Instinct recently.
Had an iPhone for awhile, but the GPS I rely on is abysmal in comparison. Not only from a network standpoint, but the Instict has TRUE GPS, not this Google-maps pho'GPS. Despite, or perhaps in spite of the numerous and blind zealots who articles such as this one truly illustrate ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuVbrm_GqhM ~ I'm not a blind follower. I rely on the technology to speak for me, and some of you here need to pay better attention to the Pro's and Con's list of anything that isn't made by your Lord Apple.
While I'll be the first to admit that Apple has done an awesome job with its GUI (could give a shit if it’s an OS or not, it IS a GUI) the V2 of the iPhone is still on the short bus as far as PHONE's go. It's a toy. A well made, VERY well produced and marketed toy. It will be here after the Instinct is gone, thanks to Apple's infinite advertising budget that has sway over you, but I will tell you that even if it was made viable over Sprint's (clearly superior) network, I would not be drawn back to the device even in its V2 stage.
Just ask your friends with their toy phone to text you an image, or send you a file; or open a word doc! It's a good thing "...there's an app for that." cuz your gunna need them to perform simple functions of which actual cell phone users, no matter what device they have, have enjoyed for years. That's assuming the device can do it at all.
Along those lines, consider the fact that it took Apple a V2 release before they got their precious product to speak properly to a Microsoft Exchange server. This again is fairly common cell phone behavior in today’s business world. V2 works great now... sadly you are restricted to having a single account and Calendar if you go that route. Oddly enough, their phone actually works better then Entourage at this point!
The best thing to come of this is that Apple will not stand alone in this new and exciting field of technological competition. That is good for all of us, because if we were to leave it to the zealots, only few of us would ever realize what we were missing.
I will say this though... a whole hell'of'a lot easier to add ringtones to the iPhone. So if all you need is some bling, candy games, maybe raising the iStock of your favorite company, or in need of some real viable applications, such as the "more cowbell" application, go iPhone all the way!! Otherwise, try something else. Anything else. Hell, even the poor Blackberry rejects have a phone that is more interesting in its native vernacular then that toy phone!
Apple has yet to mature in this market. Good first (two) attempts, but I’m holding out for something better. Go V3! I hear it will allow you to have a virtual dance with Apple’s cofounder that ALL the judges will love!
ps... now for some purely juvenile chatter; suck-it zealots! Go buy and Apple Wheel! Zune rules; I hope you didn’t buy an AIR too?! Oh, and you Apple is made by Intel! Ha!! I hate zealots of all shapes and sizes *mumbles* *coughs* *laughs*
